Job summary

The Town of Fort Myers Beach is seeking a Marine Operator to support Mooring Field operations, maintain municipal facilities and vessels, and assist with public boating safety. You will report to the Harbor Master and help manage emergency responses and routine tasks across Matanzas Harbor.

This role requires a high school diploma, marina experience, and certifications or timelines for diving, Florida Boater License, and a valid driver's license; weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; one year of marina services experience.
• Experience in operational maintenance/management of marina/docking facilities preferred.
• Advanced Diving Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire date.
• Enroll and pass Florida Boater License and Safety courses within 3 months of hire.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and obtain FL license within 30 days.
• FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 & 800 within 6 months of hire.
• Commercial Driver License with Hazardous Materials endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on Mooring Field facilities and equipment.
• Inspect boats, moorings, docks, and related facilities for safety and regulations.
• Report oil/hazardous spills and assist with containment per regulations.
• Assist the public with waterways information and mooring procedures.
• Support Harbormaster with upland services and facility upkeep.
• Dives the mooring field and maintains underwater equipment and lines.
• Operate, maintain, and repair boating equipment; perform groundskeeping and building maintenance.
