Yellow Jacket Maintenance Services (YJM) in the Chicagoland area is hiring a Maintenance Technician / Handyman with strong multi-trade experience for residential and HOA properties. The ideal candidate handles electrical, drywall, painting, and exterior repairs with reliability and professionalism.

Expect competitive hourly pay, a 40-hour week with overtime as needed, plus benefits such as medical/dental/vision, PTO, 401(k) with company match, and a quarterly cell phone stipend.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of maintenance technician or multi-trade experience in residential settings.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, drywall and general repairs across HOA properties.
• Reliable, with good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and participate in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance, repair, and installation work orders across multiple properties.
• Perform electrical repairs (outlets, switches, lighting, GFCIs, ceiling fans, panels).
• Handle drywall repair, patching, and installation.
• Execute interior and exterior painting and staining.
• Perform exterior maintenance (siding, fascia, gutters, seal coating).
• Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems and fixtures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site.
• Communicate with property managers and HOA clients.
• Manage time efficiently and complete jobs right the first time.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Maintenance Technician / Handyman with strong multi-trade experience to support residential and HOA properties.

This role is ideal for someone skilled in electrical, drywall, painting, and exterior repairs who takes pride in high-quality work, reliability, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance, repair, and installation work orders across multiple properties
• Perform electrical repairs (outlets, switches, lighting, GFCIs, ceiling fans, breaker panels)
• Handle drywall repair, patching, and installation
• Execute interior and exterior painting and staining
• Perform exterior maintenance (siding, fascia, gutters, seal coating)
• Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems and fixtures
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site
• Communicate effectively with property managers and HOA clients
• Manage time efficiently and complete jobs right the first time

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of maintenance technician, handyman, or multi-trade experience
• Experience working in residential, HOA, or property management environments
• Strong knowledge of electrical, drywall, and general repairs
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly (up to 100 lbs occasionally)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Own basic hand tools
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation

• Competitive hourly compensation; $30-$35 per hour, based on skills and experience
