Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services seeks a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to maintain hospital water and wastewater systems at Torrance State Hospital. You will operate pumps, chlorinators, and monitoring equipment, collect samples, and log data to ensure safe, compliant operations. Full-time, 37.5 hours/week, 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a wastewater operator trainee program or equivalent.
• Must possess a PA certification or equivalent for wastewater treatment plant operator.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate switches, valves, pumps, chlorinators, and lab equipment to maintain treatment processes.
• Collect samples, perform daily analyses, and record results for compliance.
• Inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and carry out startup/shutdown procedures.
• Log production data, track chemical usage, and prepare reports.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Clean and secure tools/equipment to maintain an orderly plant.

Education

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee program or equivalent

State or Federal wastewater operator certification (any class/type)
