Job summary

State Street is seeking a highly technical Security Guardian, Vice President, to drive proactive security across engineering, platform, and business teams. You will lead threat modeling, architecture reviews, and embedded security controls in cloud and distributed environments.

The candidate will act as a strategic security advisor, partnering with product teams, and translating complex security tradeoffs into concrete mitigation strategies for leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience with focus in Product and Cloud security and 3+ years within financial services.
• AWS or Azure Cloud Security certification is highly valued.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, and GIAC are preferred.
• Proven experience collaborating with engineering teams in an embedded security engagement model.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on security assessments at the application, platform, and system levels using threat modeling, architecture review, and vulnerability analysis.
• Design and recommend concrete security controls embedded into system and application architectures (identity, cryptography, network isolation, secure defaults).
• Own and drive down technical security risk by engaging with engineering and platform teams and validating security controls in production.
• Partner with engineering teams as an embedded product security expert to influence design decisions early.
• Provide security guidance to senior leadership, translating tradeoffs into actionable mitigation strategies.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in at least three advanced security domains (product security, smart contract and blockchain security, multi-cloud security, threat modeling, secure architecture and design, Agentic AI security, supply-chain security).
• Strong depth across network security, product/platform security, data protection/cryptography, and offensive security techniques.
• Embed security into agile delivery with DevSecOps, Shift-Left, automated security testing, secure CI/CD pipelines, and rapid decisions.
• Communicate security risks and tradeoffs clearly to engineers, architects, and executives.

Education

7+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience (Product and Cloud security)

AWS or Azure Cloud Security certification

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field

CISSP, CISM, GIAC certifications

Collaborating with engineering teams in embedded security engagements
