Job summary
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Group is seeking a Trailer & Equipment Mechanic in Decatur, IL, to diagnose problems, repair lowboy trailers, Class 8 trucks, forklifts, cranes and other heavy equipment. You’ll perform maintenance, troubleshoot hydraulic, air brakes, suspension, drivetrain and electrical systems, document work in the shop software, and follow safety protocols.
The role requires 2–4 years’ verifiable experience and an Air Brakes certification; welding skills and tool proficiency are a plus,
Qualifications
- 2–4 years verifiable experience as a Trailer and Equipment Mechanic.
- Air Brakes certification.
- Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC).
- Proficient use of hand and power tools.
Responsibilities
- Perform all maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on Lowboy Trailers, Trucks and equipment such as forklifts and cranes.
- Service, repair and diagnose hydraulic, air brakes, suspension, drivetrain and electrical systems.
- Document all maintenance and parts in the shop software.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area and follow safety protocols.
