Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to support our Structural Engineering team in person. You will build a foundation of engineering principles, develop calculations and details for real projects, and participate in site visits with project leads.

You will complete twelve weekly modules taught by engineers, gaining exposure to education, commercial, and healthcare building types, with an emphasis on learning how lateral systems and load paths work in real contexts.

Qualifications

• Completion of 3+ years of a structural or civil engineering undergraduate program.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit.
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, Outlook and Bluebeam.
• Strong problem solving abilities and adaptability.
• Proven collaboration and communication across disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop calculations, plans, and details for an example building under the guidance of structural engineers.
• Build understanding of lateral systems and load paths through weekly modules.
• Work with engineering teams on active projects and assignments.
• Collaborate with interns and engineers across the firm.
• Attend site visits with project leads when opportunities allow.
• Gain exposure to a variety of project types and teams within the company.
