Job summary

Inversion, headquartered in Los Angeles, invites applicants for the Vehicle Software Engineer Intern Summer 2027. You will help develop software systems that enable next‑generation reentry vehicles to operate reliably in space and on the ground, working with experienced flight and ground software engineers to build, test, and deploy software supporting spacecraft development and operations.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience programming in C, C++, Rust, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Own a well‑scoped software engineering project from requirements definition to deployment.
• Design, develop, and test software for spacecraft flight systems or ground operations.
• Develop and integrate software with hardware, simulation environments, or existing software systems.
• Write automated tests and contribute to software verification in SIL/HIL/PIL environments.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to solve technical problems.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and integration testing.
• Document designs, test results, and software functionality, and present the project.
