Job summary

Western Nevada Transload is seeking a Rail Yard Operator for our Reno Lear facility. This hands-on role involves transferring materials between railcars and trucks, and operating yard equipment to keep the yard safe and efficient.

You will follow detailed safety procedures, maintain equipment, and collaborate with drivers and office staff to ensure smooth yard flow. This position requires reliability, teamwork, and safety awareness in an active industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
• Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and equipment operating requirements.
• Strong teamwork, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with OSHA, FRA, rail, transloading, or warehouse work is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Unload and transfer materials from railcars using approved equipment and procedures.
• Inspect, secure, and prepare railcars for movement following company procedures.
• Operate yard trucks, railcar movers, forklifts, and other authorized equipment.
• Complete pre- and post-shift equipment inspections and report defects or safety concerns.
• Coordinate with drivers, dispatch, and office staff to maintain safe yard flow.
• Document shift activity and assist with training new team members.
