Job summary

Production Manager – Metal Finishing/Plating in Akron, OH is a hands-on leadership role for a growing, privately held metal finishing and plating operation. You will own day-to-day production, lead a small team, and work directly with ownership to move the business forward.

This position emphasizes on-floor presence, rapid decision-making, and continuous improvement across plating lines, from copper to chrome, with a focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Metals finishing/plating experience is required.
• Hands-on leader on the production floor and close to day-to-day operation.
• Experience in small or closely held manufacturing environments.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and process-improvement skills.
• Exposure to ISO, AS9100, Nadcap or similar specs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of nine employees across production and office/support functions.
• Oversee daily production in a job-shop metal finishing/plating environment.
• Drive production scheduling, throughput, quality, documentation, and on-time delivery.
• Troubleshoot production, plating, workflow, equipment, and process-related issues.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and general operational needs.
