Job summary

Catania Oils is seeking a dedicated Production Floor Trainer to lead hands-on training for second and third shift operators at our Ayer, MA facility. You will develop and execute training on equipment setup, line operation, quality checks, and safety protocols to elevate performance and product quality.

Ideal candidates bring manufacturing experience, leadership, and the ability to adapt training across diverse teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Three to five years of manufacturing experience, incl. two years on multiple packaging/production lines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA, GMPs, HACCP and food safety practices.
• Ability to train employees across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Sanitation, Safety/EHS.
• Ability to maintain training documentation and stand/walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and access production platforms.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy environments and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provide structured, hands-on training on equipment setup, startup, operation, shutdown, cleaning.
• Train employees on filling equipment, capping systems, labeling, vision inspection, packing lines.
• Evaluate operator knowledge and certify before independent operation.
• Develop and support cross-training plans to improve workforce flexibility.
• Adapt training methods for different experience levels and language needs.
• Collaborate with plant leadership to maintain work instructions and SOPs.
• Teach safe work practices, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, OSHA, GMPs, HACCP.
• Spend majority of day on the floor coaching to improve safety, quality, efficiency.
• Support onboarding, line startups, changeovers, new equipment implementations.
• Partner with Maintenance to distinguish operator adjustments from maintenance.
• Reinforce standardized practices to reduce downtime and waste.
• Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Provide training during staffing shortages and other duties as assigned.
