The Process Control Engineering Intern role involves software development, hardware maintenance, and automation system improvements across mill processes.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in the field of Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical degree.
• Completion of sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Software development in a variety of programming languages and on a variety of hardware platforms.
• Maintenance of computer hardware and software.
• Maintenance and problem solving of all aspects of the automation system.
• Modifications to the automation system to adapt to new products and processes.
• Address issues that may impact production or system reliability.
• Process modeling for mill processes of a chemical, metallurgical and mechanical nature.
• Administration of a variety of Operating Systems and relational databases on workstations and servers.
• Work with complex measurement systems, such as vision systems for product quality, thermal imaging temperature measurements, RFID and barcode tag reading for product identification, X-ray and nuclear gauges, and other gauging systems.
• Work with networking technologies, high-speed data transmission, and specialty interfaces.
• Close coordination with a production department.
• Respond to routine and emergency requests.
• Manage local area project, task, and priority lists.
• Make recommendations for system and process improvements.
• Work with vendors on products and performance issues.
• Coordinating with Research and Development and other staff departments.
