Job summary

Leggett & Platt Inc. in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Maintenance Controls Technician to support our Flooring business on the plant floor.

You will troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, develop and modify PLC programs, wire and install automation components, and partner with maintenance teams to improve uptime and reliability. This role demands strong hands-on diagnostics, reading electrical schematics, and experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens platforms.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance, controls, or automation experience in manufacturing.
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming experience on major platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Automation Direct).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
• Travel 30-40% to support other facilities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
• Provide hands-on support for daily maintenance and production issues involving controls, electrical systems, drives, sensors, and HMIs.
• Develop, modify, and debug PLC and HMI programs to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Install, wire, test, and commission automation equipment, control panels, motors, sensors, drives, and related components.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities on automated production equipment.
• Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to minimize downtime and maximize machine performance.
• Create and maintain documentation including electrical drawings, PLC backups, and troubleshooting records.
• Support automation and controls projects at other Flooring locations as needed.
