Job summary

N Human Resources & Management Systems in Schaumburg, IL is seeking an Operations Manager – Americas to lead our US and India-US operations teams in a hands-on, end-to-end steel trade environment.

You will manage trade files, coordinate LC/banking, customs and logistics, and design practical processes while mentoring staff and building strong relationships with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on, end-to-end execution of steel trade deals.
• Experience with LC/banking coordination, customs and regulatory filings.
• Strong stakeholder management and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Personally manage the Niche desk and step into team members’ deal-execution responsibilities as required.
• Own individual trade files end-to-end including contract review, LC/banking coordination, customs and logistics.
• Mentor and supervise US and India-US operations team.
• Design, improve and standardize operational procedures and documentation.
• Build relationships with commercial teams, customers and suppliers.
• Train operations staff in coordinating with warehouses, stevedores, trucking companies and logistics providers.
• Monitor warehouse reports, ageing inventory and system reconciliation.
• Escalate complex transactions involving banks, customs brokers and vendors.
• Coordinate with Finance on vendor invoice authorization and payments.
• Work with IT to improve operational systems and manage claims.
