Job summary

N Human Resources & Management Systems seeks an Operations Lead for steel trading based in Schaumburg, IL. You will oversee US operations with the Mumbai team, handling trade execution, contract admin, trade finance, logistics and team management.

Responsibilities include LC management, credit control, customs clearance, and system improvements (NAVISION/D365). Strong Incoterms knowledge and ERP proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade or related field.
• Hands-on experience in steel trading or commodities.
• Knowledge of international trade operations, logistics, trade finance and Letters of Credit.
• Strong understanding of Incoterms.
• Team and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced Excel and ERP knowledge.
• Spanish language skills would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage LCs from opening to vetting and bank coordination.
• Manage customer credit and follow up on payments.
• Ensure timely customs declarations and clearance.
• Supervise operations team across trade execution.
• Review contracts and POs for Incoterms and costs.
• Prepare invoices, bills of lading, packing lists and LC docs.
• Coordinate payments with Finance for purchases and freight.
• Improve procedures and documentation processes.
• Identify contractual/commercial risks.
• Collaborate with IT to improve systems (NAVISION/D365).
• Manage relationships with commercial teams, vendors, suppliers.
• Monitor warehouse reports, ageing inventory, stock reconciliation.
