Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across departments. You will perform rooming, vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, and health screenings while adhering to policies and maintaining competency.

You will assist providers with procedures, handle lab duties (venipuncture, specimen labeling, POCT), administer medications and vaccines, coordinate referrals, scheduling, and follow safety/regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or DD214 in lieu.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows policies and maintains competency.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, CLIA waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following the rights of administration.
• Performs other duties: refills, authorizations, scheduling, referrals.
• Cross trained to support multiple clinics within scope.
• Demonstrates effective communication, teamwork, and escalation.
• Maintains clean environment and stocked supplies.
• Provides age-appropriate care and uses age-specific guidelines.
