Job summary

James Hardie is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Michigan to gain hands-on experience in product design, prototyping, testing, and documentation with the StruXure engineering team.

The 12-week paid program provides mentoring, project ownership, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver real impact.

You must be enrolled in a bachelor’s program (ME preferred), maintain a 3.0 GPA, be available for full-time summer 2027, and have U.S. work authorization.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during Summer 2027.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Create and update 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
• Review legacy parts, assemblies, drawings, and engineering data to current standards.
• Support active new product development through component design and documentation.
• Own at least one defined engineering project from problem definition to recommendation and presentation.
