Job summary

The Terraces Orleans is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in keeping a safe, comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will help with routine tasks, small repairs, and seasonal upkeep in a healthcare setting.

Ideal candidates have prior maintenance or facilities experience, basic skills in plumbing and electrical work, and the ability to work independently while communicating clearly with residents and vendors.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, or related experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building systems and routine maintenance preferred.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, employees, and vendors.
• Must be able to work in a healthcare/senior living environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs as directed.
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, and general building maintenance.
• Assist with maintaining resident rooms, common areas, grounds, and equipment.
• Assist with snow removal, waste removal, and other seasonal facility needs.
• Assist with ensuring smoke detectors and fire safety equipment are maintained and report issues when identified.
• Assist with inspections and required safety checks as directed.
• Coordinate with outside vendors when requested by the Maintenance Director.
• Report maintenance concerns, needed repairs, and supply needs to the Maintenance Director.
• Maintain the maintenance shop, tools, and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
• Assist with building safety during severe weather and other emergencies.
• Follow all facility safety policies and procedures.
• Interact respectfully and appropriately with residents, including older adults and individuals with chronic health
