Job summary

Yay Lunch, operating from a shared commercial kitchen in the DC Metro market, requires a Kitchen Manager to run daily operations and oversee food distribution to seven school locations. You will lead a hands-on team, manage production scheduling, and ensure quality and timeliness.

The role emphasizes batch production, food safety, inventory control, and team leadership, with opportunities for growth and a direct impact on what kids eat every day.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in kitchen or food production operations.
• Hands-on cook and leader, able to work the line with the team.
• Experience with batch production, food safety, inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Run a commercial kitchen from prep to pickup with on-time execution.
• Manage labor within budget and schedule changes as needed.
• Monitor waste, inventory, and ensure foods meet Yay standards.
• Lead and develop Prep Cooks and onboarding for new hires.
• Coordinate with DC Metro locations and school staff for service.
