Job summary

The Spot Cafe LLC in Saint Augustine, FL is seeking a passionate Working Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be right in the action—cooking, leading, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations in a fast-paced cafe setting.

You will oversee line cooking, ensure food quality and presentation, manage staff, control inventory and costs, and maintain food safety standards while collaborating with ownership on menu updates.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of kitchen management or lead cook experience in a cafe, restaurant, or food service setting.
• Strong hands-on cooking skills with the ability to work all kitchen stations.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a kitchen team.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain).
• Experience with inventory management, ordering, and cost control.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations while actively working the line alongside staff.
• Manage food prep, cooking, and plating to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise kitchen staff.
• Monitor food inventory, place orders, and manage food costs and waste.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health code standards.
• Collaborate with ownership to develop and update menu items.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance as needed.
