Job summary

LER TechForce, LLC. seeks a hands-on Design Engineer - PIM to own the full lifecycle of injection molded components for body system applications in Troy, MI. You will drive tooling concepts, mold design, process development, and production readiness, collaborating across design, manufacturing, and suppliers.

The role requires strong knowledge of thermoplastics, mold tooling, and quality systems, with the ability to lead PPAPs and implement corrective actions to achieve zero-escape quality.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on injection molding engineering experience.
• Experience with mold tooling design and production support for high-volume components.
• Knowledge of thermoplastics materials and processing and related properties.

Responsibilities

• Own full lifecycle of injection molded components from tooling to production.
• Review and approve mold designs; manage tooling with suppliers and drive mold qualification.
• Develop and validate robust injection molding processes with scientifically-based windows for pressure, temperature, fill, pack, hold, and cooling.
• Ensure dimensional and functional performance, cost, mass, cycle time, and manufacturability meet program requirements.
• Lead PPAP submissions and develop control plans; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent escapes.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams on DFM reviews, mold flow, and tolerance studies.
