Job summary
The J.M. Smucker Company is seeking an Engineering Operator 3 (Maintenance Tech) at its Columbus, GA Hostess facility.
This on-site role requires performing a full range of maintenance and engineering tasks with independence, working across motors, conveyors, and production machines. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, reading schematics, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure continuous operation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Previous safety experience (LOTO).
- Knowledge of electrical components (high/low voltage, motors).
- Able to read and understand electrical/mechanical schematics.
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain machinery and equipment using hand and power tools per specifications.
- Dismantle devices to access and replace defective parts.
- Inspect parts with calipers/micrometers to verify dimensional changes.
- Interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics to troubleshoot systems.
- Repair or replace defective parts and test device performance.
- Set up and operate metalworking tools to manufacture/repair parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance on critical equipment to ensure reliability.
