Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College - Richmond is seeking an adjunct Industrial Maintenance Instructor to deliver hands-on training in classroom, lab, and employer sites. This part-time role focuses on practical maintenance, troubleshooting, and alignment with modern manufacturing needs.

You will develop instructional materials, adapt to diverse adult learners, and collaborate with workforce staff to meet partner needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance or related technical experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one industrial maintenance discipline.
• Ability to teach adult learners and translate technical concepts into practical instruction.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on industrial maintenance training in classroom, lab, and employer-site settings.
• Facilitate adult learning through demonstrations, equipment exercises, troubleshooting scenarios, and practical applications.
• Provide or assist with course outlines, instructional materials, lab activities, and assessments aligned with workforce training objectives.
• Adapt instruction to participants with varying levels of industrial experience and technical knowledge.
• Maintain accurate attendance, progress, assessment, and course-completion records.
• Submit required course documentation within established timelines.
• Support participants with questions and technical skill development throughout training.
• Address participant concerns and collaborate with Ivy Tech Workforce/Skills Training staff as needed.
• Meet all scheduled training sessions as assigned.
• Utilize instructional technologies such as PowerPoint, Canvas, simulation software, or manufacturer-specific training platforms when appropriate.
• Promote a professional, respectful, inclusive, and safety-focused learning environment.
• Ensure the safe use of tools, equipment, trainers, and laboratory resources.
