Anza Mortgage Insurance Company in Wilmington, NC seeks a Director of HR to lead a lean, hands-on HR function reporting to the COO. You will translate company priorities into practical HR execution, support managers and employees, and directly handle day-to-day work while leveraging outsourced resources.

This role emphasizes practical HR operations, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits and compliance, with responsibilities for data-driven decision making

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive HR experience in a hands-on, generalist or business partner role.
• Experience operating in lean organizations and advising senior leaders on HR matters.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws across multiple states and practical HR best practices.
• Experience managing internal HR support and outsourced resources (PEO) and HRIS.

Responsibilities

• Translate executive priorities into practical HR actions and provide guidance to leaders.
• Lead or co-lead core HR operations including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, payroll updates, benefits, and compliance.
• Manage internal HR staff and external vendors, ensuring service levels and ownership of critical decisions.
• Use HR data and reporting to support decisions and surface risks early.
• Oversee full-cycle recruiting and performance management processes with managers.
• Partner with IT and Security on HR controls and data privacy requirements.
