Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of Durham Inc is seeking a Repairs Assistant to support home repair projects that preserve safe, affordable housing for local homeowners. You will work under Site Supervisors and alongside staff, volunteers, and homeowners to complete tasks, maintain job sites, and support daily project needs.

This role is hands-on and team-oriented, requiring dependability, adaptability, and a strong commitment to service.

Qualifications

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with homeowners, volunteers, and staff.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hands-on environment.
Comfort with outdoor work in varying weather conditions and heights.
Willingness to learn new skills and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Assist with hands-on home repair tasks, including site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, crawlspaces, ladders, and other construction activities.
Manage tools, equipment, and materials at job sites and storage areas.
Help Site Supervisors to maintain clean, organized and safe job sites and comply with safety standards.
Support volunteers to promote a safe, positive, and productive work environment.
Communicate clearly with homeowners, volunteers, staff and team members.
Follow Habitat for Humanity safety protocols and use tools responsibly.
Perform additional repair, maintenance, and project support duties as assigned.
