Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a meticulous Technician for the Testbeds & EGSE team to build and maintain HITL testbeds and related equipment used in satellite integration and testing. This role is onsite in San Jose, requiring hands-on fabrication, electrical assembly, and strong problem-solving from drawings and engineers.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has 5+ years in hardware assembly, and communicates clearly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience assembling and maintaining electrical or electromechanical hardware.
• Harness fabrication: connectorization, pinning, crimping, and continuity testing.
• PCBA assembly and rework (surface mount and through-hole).
• Basic electrical test tools (multimeter at minimum) for troubleshooting.
• Comfort in a Linux heavy development environment.
• Work from drawings, schematics, and block diagrams with minimal supervision.
• Documentation-heavy role requiring organized lab/inventory practices.

Responsibilities

• Assemble HITL testbed hardware: racks, avionics modules, wiring, and interconnects, from drawings and engineering direction.
• Assemble and maintain spacecraft test equipment (EGSE) used to power, command, and monitor satellites during integration and test.
• Fabricate, modify, and repair cable harnesses, including connectorization, pinning, and continuity checkout.
• Perform PCBA assembly and rework (surface mount and through-hole soldering).
• Maintain testbed infrastructure and support resources — power, network, and lab equipment — and respond quickly when systems go down.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues with standard test tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes) alongside engineers.
• Perform light mechanical fabrication: drilling, tapping, rack fit-up, torquing fasteners.
• Track testbed and EGSE inventory, document builds, changes, and repairs with logs and procedure redlines.
