Job summary

i3 is seeking a Test Engineer to support hardware simulators and HIL testbeds in lab and field environments. You will be hands-on with real equipment, setting up systems, running test scenarios, collecting and validating data, and ensuring simulator availability for customer demos, developmental testing, and field events.

The role emphasizes practical engineering, disciplined execution, and fast-paced troubleshooting across cables, timing, configuration control, and field logistics.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering/Engineering Technology/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of related experience in hardware testing or HIL environments.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet, serial/UART, CAN; basic scripting for setup/log collection.
• Proficiency with Windows and/or Linux; able to follow procedures and maintain logs.
• Willingness to travel for field events and occasional weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate hardware simulators and HIL testbeds in lab and field deployments.
• Set up and teardown: rack integration, cabling, power, and configuration loading.
• Monitor simulator health, collect telemetry, and troubleshoot anomalies.
• Calibrate outputs/inputs using lab instruments and documented procedures.
• Maintain configuration control, asset inventory, and change documentation.
• Collect and validate test data; produce run notes and issue summaries.
• Support field logistics: packing, transport, site setup, safety compliance.
• Contribute to operator checklists, procedures, guides, and training materials.
