Atlas Gunworks in Shelburne, VT, is seeking a Finishing Department Manager to lead tumbling, blasting, sanding, polishing, and coating operations. You will manage a team, drive quality and efficiency, and coordinate with production, engineering, and quality to meet aggressive deadlines.

The role demands hands-on leadership, strong process ownership, and a track record of developing technicians into higher roles while maintaining exacting standards of fit and finish for premium firearms.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, machining, gunsmithing, or finishing operations, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Strong knowledge of finishing processes: tumbling, blasting, sanding, polishing, and coating.
• Proven ability to train, lead, and hold a team to quality and production standards.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Clear communicator able to coordinate across departments and vendors.
• Adaptable to fast-paced manufacturing environments.
• Visual acuity with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Train, schedule, and supervise Finishing Specialists and Technicians.
• Manage daily workflow across finishing operations to meet schedules and quality targets.
• Enforce quality specifications and oversee self-inspection and non-conformances.
• Collaborate to develop, test, and roll out new finishing methods and SOPs.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for coating and anodizing; oversee equipment maintenance.
• Troubleshoot issues with cross-functional teams and implement process changes.
• Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and mentor staff.
• Maintain department records and report on production output and progress.
• Ensure safety protocols and organized work areas.
