First Student, Inc. in Bronx, NY is seeking a hands-on Facilities Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our Bronx facility.

This full-time role covers electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection, and other systems to keep the location safe and well maintained. You will troubleshoot, inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, install components, and work with local operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of maintenance or repair experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of general maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot across multiple facility systems.
• Experience safely operating hand tools and power tools.
• Electrician or welding license/certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair facility components and systems, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection, and other building equipment
• Inspect and test equipment and perform preventive maintenance
• Complete mechanical work and minor repairs on facility systems and equipment
• Install new components and systems as needed
• Perform general facility maintenance and upkeep
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
• Properly handle and dispose of non-hazardous and hazardous liquid and solid waste
• Operate tools and equipment safely and appropriately
• Identify maintenance concerns and communicate repair needs to management
• Support additional facility-related projects and maintenance needs as assigned
