Job summary

Whitaker Construction is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Helper to support the Facilities Manager in maintaining company offices, shops, yards, and other facilities. This hands-on role covers minor repairs, preventative maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal while ensuring safety and quality workmanship.

You will assist with construction projects, operate basic tools, coordinate with vendors, and help prepare work areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; vocational training desired.
• Some construction, maintenance, landscaping, or facilities experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, shops, yards, and surrounding areas.
• Support the Facilities Manager with facility improvement, renovation, and construction projects.
• Perform basic carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance tasks.
• Help install, repair, and replace fixtures, doors, shelving, signage, and other components.
• Prepare work areas, load/unload materials, and maintain clean, organized job sites.
• Operate basic hand and power tools safely and properly.
• Assist with landscaping, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance as needed.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors; assist on-site as required.
• Comply with safety policies, OSHA requirements, and wear PPE.
