Job summary

American Prairie Foundation in Lewistown, MT seeks a Facilities Manager to oversee the condition, safety, and reliability of access points, public use areas, facilities, and landscape across 160,000+ acres. This hands-on leadership role directs maintenance and repair work, supervises seasonal staff, and supports budget planning with the Regional Facilities Maintenance Director.

The role requires experience across several trades, strong safety practices, budgeting, procurement, and outdoor work

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of facilities, maintenance, property management, or construction experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on skill across two or more trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC).
• Experience directing the work of others including seasonal staff.
• Experience with rural infrastructure: wells, septic, propane, generators.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain inventory of tools, equipment and supplies.
• Direct day-to-day work of seasonal assets and infrastructure staff.
• Manage employee housing assignments, turnover and condition across properties.
• Assist on facilities and capital projects; coordinate bids and vendor documentation.
• Document facilities damage and loss; submit claims and track resolutions.
• Coordinate budget coding; manage purchasing and vendor relationships.
