Job summary

South Coast Botanic Garden is seeking a Coordinator, Event Services to provide hands-on support for events, programs, exhibits, rentals, and special projects. You will transport equipment, set up spaces, assemble displays, and assist with basic fabrication, working with multiple Garden departments and vendors.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, problem solving, flexibility, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform essential functions including physical activities.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, move, push, and pull equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely use basic hand tools and learn to operate power tools after required training.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of how objects fit and work together.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work evenings, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Move, load, unload, and transport equipment, furniture, décor, and other materials throughout the Garden.
• Set up, convert, and break down event and program spaces per layouts and schedules.
• Support event load-ins, load-outs, rehearsals, room flips, and strikes.
• Assist with deliveries, pickups, and transportation of materials.
• Maintain clean, organized, guest-ready spaces before, during, and after events.
• Support with various programs, exhibits, rentals, and special projects.
• Respond to changing priorities with flexible, solutions-oriented approach.
