Job summary

FormativGroup is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a Financial Services tech organization focused on tax professionals. This hands-on role combines senior technical leadership with people management, delivering code while guiding architecture, modernization, and AI-assisted workflows.

You will mentor engineers, own technical direction, oversee CI/CD, testing, and cloud infrastructure, and partner with product teams to ship reliable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of software engineering experience with clear leadership as a senior engineer or lead
• Hands-on full-stack development depth with delivery focus
• Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, and React for modern apps
• Experience maintaining and modernizing .NET/C# services and Angular front ends
• Proven use of AI-assisted development workflows in real delivery environments

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction, architecture, and roadmap across modernization and debt
• Contribute production code and provide timely review feedback
• Drive CI/CD, IaC, and cloud-native delivery practices
• Hire, coach, and grow engineers; set technical hiring bar
• Create and maintain agent operating instructions and runbooks
• Ensure strong automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers
