Job summary

ExoTerra seeks a senior embedded software leader to guide a team of engineers in developing and validating mission-critical firmware for power electronics hardware. You will drive technical direction, code reviews, and hands-on coding across C/C++ in RTOS environments.

The role requires coordinating with cross-functional groups, producing rigorous design and test documentation, and mentoring interns and engineers in a regulated aerospace setting. On-site in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years leading embedded software teams.
• Experience with embedded C/C++ driver/bootloader development.
• Experience with RTOS in embedded applications.
• Experience with industrial/aerospace protocols.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Experience with version control and issue tracking.
• On-site position.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers, providing technical direction and code reviews.
• Manage sprint planning, prioritization, workload balancing, and performance feedback.
• Design, develop, test, and debug embedded C/C++ applications, drivers, and bootloaders for power electronics hardware.
• Architect and implement real-time embedded software using RTOS and industrial protocols.
• Guide development across multiple microcontroller architectures, including space-grade targets.
• Develop desktop tools (Electron-based) with database-backed data recording to support workflows.
• Create software requirements, architecture/design documents, test plans/reports in a regulated environment.
• Coordinate schedules, staffing, and roadmaps with cross-functional teams.
