Job summary

Nutrien in Augusta, GA is seeking an entry-level EIT Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support mechanical systems in a dynamic industrial environment. The role emphasizes hands-on learning, safety, and collaboration with operations.

You will assist in design, evaluation, and troubleshooting of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, and rotating equipment, while applying relevant codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
• Internship or co-op in refining, petrochemical, chemical manufacturing, or power generation preferred.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering; proficient in Excel/AutoCAD.
• Willingness to work in an operating petrochemical or industrial plant environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, evaluation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, supports, rotating equipment).
• Perform basic engineering calculations related to stress, pressure, temperature, and flow; assist in equipment sizing.
• Support mechanical design reviews, drawings, and specifications.
• Collaborate with operations to investigate failures and support RCFA; develop and review repair plans.
• Participate in equipment inspections and walkdowns; assist with turnaround planning and field execution.
• Learn and apply ASME BPVC, ASME B31 piping codes, API and NFPA standards; follow company standards.
• Support mechanical integrity programs, MOC, and safety requirements.
• Participate in hazard reviews (PHA, HAZOP, JSA) and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Pursue professional licensure toward PE where applicable.
