Astro Mechanica CORP. seeks a hands-on Environmental Health & Safety Lead to own safety for test operations and to build the EHS function as the company scales.

You will collaborate with engineering, test, manufacturing, facilities, and leadership to implement a practical safety baseline, obtain permits, and develop programs for high‑hazard testing, high‑voltage work, and fuels. Qualifications

• Deep working knowledge of Cal/OSHA and core programs such as LOTO, machine guarding, electrical safety, and industrial hygiene.
• Hands-on experience with high-hazard operations including high-voltage testing, combustion testing, fuels, or crane and rigging.

Responsabilités

• Define and implement the safety baseline for test operations and new test sites, including site safety plans and emergency response.
• Build the EHS program in phases, from test site safety to manufacturing.
• Select and manage EHS consultants and training providers.
• Turn requests from engineering, test, and facilities into a prioritized EHS plan.
• Own core safety programs: LOTO, electrical safety, hot work, confined space, fall protection, chemical safety, PPE.
• Lead hazard analyses, test readiness reviews, and management of change for combustion, fuel, high‑pressure, and high‑voltage testing.
• Deliver hands‑on training and field support for commissioning, heavy lifts, rigging, forklifts, and aerial lifts.
• Own permitting and agency engagement with Cal/OSHA, fire departments, CUPAs, and BAAQMD; manage fuel delivery and air/environment permits.
• Build emergency response plans and lead incident investigations to drive corrective actions to closure.
• Plan EHS requirements for the manufacturing floor ahead of build-out, including certifications and programs.
• Respond to agency citations and charges with legal counsel.
