Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group is seeking a hands-on Commercial Real Estate Controller in Atlanta, GA. You will be the sole accountant handling full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting for a private CRE portfolio including retail centers, restaurants, and mixed-use properties.

The role requires a CPA (preferred) and 10+ years of progressive accounting, with experience in partnership accounting and tax.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in commercial real estate.
Partnership accounting and partnership tax experience.
Comfort with real estate legal documents: leases, acquisitions, and dispositions.
Yardi or MRI, plus advanced Excel.
Public accounting background a plus.

Responsibilities

Own full-cycle accounting, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Prepare owner and investor reporting, partnership allocations, and capital account reconciliations.
Run waterfall calculations, preferred returns, and investor distributions.
Handle CAM reconciliations, property expenses, and tenant recoveries.
Support development accounting, construction-in-progress, and intercompany transactions.
Support partnership tax work and review real estate legal documents (leases, acquisitions, sales).
Work closely with ownership through the succession process.
