Job summary

BABCOX MEDIA, an Akron, Ohio-based media company, seeks a hands-on Controller to own day-to-day accounting and internal controls. The role partners with senior leadership, ensures accurate financial statements, and drives process improvements using AI tools for analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will manage month-end close, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration, while mentoring staff and maintaining strict confidentiality across all financial data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required.
• 8+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and cross-department collaboration.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements with accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop budgets and forecasts with variance analysis.
• Own month-end close and internal controls.
• Lead accounts payable, receivable, and billing processes.
• Manage payroll-related tasks and compensation calculations.
• Support audit coordination and external tax filings.
