Job summary

Fleetwood Group seeks a hands-on Continuous Improvement Engineer to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency on the manufacturing floor. You will work with operators and leaders to understand how work is actually done and identify opportunities for improvement.

Using Lean, Toyota Production System, and problem-solving skills, you will move ideas to action, reduce waste, and help turn improvements into standard work across processes, equipment, and layouts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably furniture/woodworking or discrete manufacturing.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Production System principles.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; data-driven decision-making.
• CAD experience (SolidWorks) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor observing processes and talking with team members.
• Collaborate with production teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
• Apply TPS and Lean principles such as standard work, 5S, and waste elimination.
• Identify non-value-added activities and opportunities to improve flow and capacity.
• Lead improvement projects from observation to implementation and standardization.
• Support process development, equipment improvements, layouts, and material flow.
