Job summary

Certerra is seeking an Engineer in Training in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX to support a civil engineering team on infrastructure and development projects. This entry-level role is ideal for a recent graduate preparing for the FE exam and eager to gain hands-on experience.

The EIT will assist with design, permitting, and construction documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D, while collaborating with engineers, surveyors, and planners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (recent graduate preferred).
• Actively preparing for or scheduled to take the FE exam.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles across structural, transportation, or water resources.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of civil engineering projects, including site development, drainage, roadway, and utility systems
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
• Support the development of construction documents using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D)
• Conduct site visits to observe construction progress and gather field data
• Assist with project permitting, regulatory compliance, and coordination with local agencies
• Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and basic project analysis
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surveyors, planners, and environmental specialists
• Maintain organized project documentation and ensure accuracy of data
