Job summary

Dominican University of California is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to lead a team of maintenance staff on a California campus. The role combines hands-on trades work with supervisory duties and coordination of preventive maintenance across campus infrastructure.

The position will spend roughly 80% of time performing hands-on maintenance and 20% coordinating activities, safety, and vendor schedules, with weekend Manager-on-Duty responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• 5–10 years of progressive experience in facility maintenance and equipment operation.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Knowledge of floor plan designs and familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Current driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; must be maintained.
• Available to work evenings or weekends for events and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, doors, windows, and general building upkeep.
• Lead daily work orders with Maintenance Technicians and support preventive maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot and repair building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
• Conduct facility inspections to identify safety and operational concerns.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and assist CMMS/BMS usage.
