Job summary

CSafe, headquartered in Monroe, Ohio, is seeking an Associate Director of Software Engineering to lead our Software Engineering team. This hands-on player-coach role splits time between writing production code in C#/.NET and guiding engineers, setting technical direction, and delivering reliable software.

You will partner with Product, IT, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into scalable architectures, drive CI/CD, and champion AI-assisted development while maintaining security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• 12+ years in professional software engineering with C#/.NET and modern JS frameworks.
• 3+ years leading engineers with performance reviews and coaching.
• Experience delivering and operating production software at scale in cloud.
• Experience leading distributed teams including internal and external partners.
• Preferred experience in regulated industries (life sciences, manufacturing).

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a team of software engineers, handling hiring and growth.
• Write and review code 50% of the time in C#/.NET and modern JS.
• Define technical direction and architecture for platforms, including API design and security.
• Drive delivery by planning, removing blockers, and enforcing scope and dates.
• Establish engineering standards with CI/CD, testing, and documentation.
• Promote AI-assisted development with guardrails to maintain quality.
• Communicate tradeoffs and risks to product and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data and digital engineering on contracts and dependencies.
• Transition work from external partners to internal team with knowledge transfer.
• Own production health, incidents, root cause analysis, and debt remediation.
• Be a senior technical voice in vendor decisions.
