Job summary

UNC Hospitals Hand Center in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks an experienced Occupational Therapist II – Clinical Specialist to join the Hand Therapy Clinic at the Ambulatory Care Center. The role focuses on advanced hand therapy and upper extremity rehabilitation, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to improvements in care delivery.

This full-time position entails one-on-one care, 40 hours per week across four 10-hour shifts, and close collaboration

Qualifications

• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in North Carolina.
• Five years of OT experience with one year in the specialty field.
• CHT credential preferred but not required.
• Experience in outpatient hand therapy and custom splinting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive OT evaluation, intervention, and education for complex upper extremity conditions.
• Develop and progress postoperative rehab and tendon/nerve injury treatments.
• Design, fabricate, and adjust custom orthoses based on surgical protocols.
• Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to specialty program development.
