Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current Occupational Therapy license in Louisiana.
• BLS certification.
• Strong knowledge of hand and upper extremity anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to manage patient caseloads efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Evaluate hand and upper extremity conditions to determine treatment plans.
• Treatment Planning: Develop individualized programs based on assessments and goals.
• Therapeutic Interventions: Implement exercises, manual therapy, and modalities to restore function.
• Splinting: Design and fabricate custom splints and orthoses.
• Wound and Scar Care: Perform wound care and scar management to promote healing.
• Patient Education: Instruct patients and families on home exercise programs and adaptive techniques.
• Collaboration: Work with hand and orthopedic surgeons for coordinated care.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of evaluations and progress notes.
• Professional Development: Engage in continuing education to advance hand therapy expertise.
