Job summary

Nutrafol, in collaboration with Unilever, is seeking an experienced hands-on personal care formulator to join our Formulation team. This bench-forward role centers on scalp health and hair strand performance, developing proprietary formulas in-house and guiding scale-up with contract manufacturers.

You will collaborate across Product Development, Clinical, QA/RA, Supply Chain and Marketing, with hybrid work in Trumbull, CT three days on site and two remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in cosmetic science, chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years hands-on cosmetic/personal care formulation experience; bench work and prototype evaluation required.
• Experience with surfactants, emulsions, and aqueous systems; premium personal care experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize novel formulations for scalp and hair across leave-on formats and shampoos.
• Select optimal ingredient systems to deliver target consumer experience and benefits.
• Translate briefs into formulation strategies; benchmark against competitive products.
• Troubleshoot stability, rheology, preservation, fragrance, and sensory performance.
• Support scale-up, collaboration with contract manufacturers, and lifecycle management.
