Job summary

CUHK seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician II for the Haematology Laboratory at Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin. The role involves providing technical support for molecular hematology, NGS, and HLA testing, plus R&D and lab management tasks.

The appointee will join a dynamic team, contribute to blood sample processing, and participate in equipment evaluation and inventory control. Contract up to 2 years with renewal subject to performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in biology-related discipline from a recognised university or technical institute.
• Registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist under Part II or above of the Register of the Medical Laboratory Technologist Board in Hong Kong.
• At least 3 years’ work experience in medical laboratory science.
• Experience in handling and processing of blood samples.
• Experience in advanced molecular biology techniques, such as NGS library preparation and ddPCR; experience in hematology research, laboratory management systems, biobanking, inventory and document control is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to molecular hematology service including qPCR- and ddPCR-based assays.
• Provide technical support to NGS testing service.
• Provide technical support to HLA DNA testing service.
• Carry out research and development work.
• Manage database (laboratory management system and biobanking).
• Assist in equipment purchase, evaluation and maintenance.
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks.
