Job summary

The Mason Conservation District is seeking motivated Field Crew Members to join our habitat restoration team. You will plant bare root and potted stock, maintain planting sites, and apply invasive weed control under supervision.

This full-time position requires physical stamina, the ability to work in varied weather and terrain, and teamwork in a field setting. A driver’s license is beneficial and prior restoration experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to work as part of a productive crew
• Ability to walk while carrying 50 pounds, lift 50 pounds, operate hand and power tools
• Pass pre-employment background check and drug test
• Valid driver’s license preferred

Responsibilities

• Work directly under the Habitat Restoration Crew Lead to complete tasks including planting maintenance, planting, and invasive plant treatment (chemical and manual)
• Safely utilize tools such as brushcutters, machetes, and shovels to maintain planting sites
• Plant both bare root and potted-stock plants
• Occasional operation of non-motorized watercraft to access select work sites
• Under supervision, safely apply herbicides to invasive weeds using backpack sprayers
• Practice proper tool/equipment maintenance
• Other duties may be assigned
