Job summary

The Office of the Attorney General in Tampa, Florida, seeks a qualified attorney to represent the State in habeas corpus matters in federal courts. Qualifications

• Admission to the Florida Bar and two years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings.

Responsibilities

• Responding to the claims of the prisoners asserting federal constitutional rights violations and preparing pleadings and responses for the State of Florida.
• Handle appeals to the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
• Supervise timely filing of pleadings and documents on appeal; review assignments of error; prepare briefs; argue on behalf of the State.
• Handle extraordinary writs and other civil litigation or special assignments as directed.
