Job summary

Plug Power Inc. is seeking a Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist to travel to customer sites across the United States for inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and commissioning of hydrogen storage infrastructure, electrolyzers, and stationary equipment.

This role is remote-based with up to 100% travel, requiring strong mechanical aptitude and experience with high-pressure hydrogen systems. You will lead service repairs, provide training, and assist with commissioning and ongoing

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or vocational degree in engineering, electronics, pressurized systems or a related field.
  • Or 2+ years of additional construction/repair/maintenance experience in electrical, industrial, or mechanical field in lieu of degree.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% for job assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites for inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing and commissioning of Plug Power products.
  • Lead high-level service repair projects on existing hydrogen infrastructure and execute specialized procedures.
  • Provide training to first responders, customers, and Plug service personnel on troubleshooting and maintenance of hydrogen systems.
  • Support commissioning and ongoing maintenance of industrial hydrogen infrastructure, including reading electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Document test results and close out project task lists.

Commissioning & Maintenance SpecialistStatus: Non-exempt (hourly)Location: Remote in the USPosition SummaryThis position is responsible for commissioning, preventative maintenance troubleshooting, and repair of Plug power products including hydrogen storage infrastructure, electrolyzers, and stationary equipment at various customer sites. As such, this is a heavy travel position (up to 100%). This role requires excellent mechanical aptitude and a high degree of familiarity with industrial hydrogen systems and performance. This position also requires the ability to be on-call and to respond to urgent needs so that customer sites maintain hydrogen production around the clock. The ideal candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively among cross-functional departments with an emphasis on helping to improve electrolyzers system designs and resolve defects based upon field experience and data. This position is also critical to interface with customer stakeholders and exceed their expectations for service thereby furthering Plug Power's reputation as the leader in hydrogen fuel cell power solutions.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesTravel as needed to customer sites to perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing and commissioning of Plug power products including hydrogen storage infrastructure, electrolyzers, and stationary.Execute and lead high level service repair projects on existing hydrogen infrastructure, including specialized service procedures including liquid tank repairs and vacuum jacket line repairs, etc.Provide training to first responders, customers, and other Plug service personnel on troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of Hydrogen infrastructure.Support the commissioning and ongoing maintenance and operation of industrial hydrogen infrastructure including but not limited to:Interpreting electrical wiring schematicsConducting Point to Point functionality testingPressure testing of piping systems per ASME standardsTesting and troubleshooting program issues with engineering assistance.Inspecting of process piping systems (pressure ratings, fittings, etc.)Provide documented results from system testing and commissioning at the completion of each project.Create, track, and close out project task lists.Knowledge of environmental impact on equipment function and performanceAbility to safely operate and control combustibles.Ability to diagnose system problems and troubleshoot solutions.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs.Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and external vendors professionally and effectively.Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision while achieving high quality results in work assignments.Must be able to adapt to changing requirements and meet project commitments/objectives without sacrificing workmanship or quality.Shares ideas about process improvements and other cost saving measures with project team and management.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical specifications.Maintain a focus around safety in all facets of work and ensure that all relevant parties are educated on the safe operation of hydrogen equipment and infrastructure.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.Perform all other duties as assigned and required within role.QUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceThree (3) or more years of experience in construction, repair, or maintenance in an electrical, industrial, or mechanical field.Associates degree or vocational degree in engineering, electronics, pressurized systems or other applicable field of study preferred.
