Job summary

Plug Power Inc. is seeking a Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist to perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and commissioning of hydrogen infrastructure and electrolyzers at customer sites. The role requires up to 100% travel and availability to be on-call to maintain hydrogen production around the clock.

You will train customers and other staff, interpret wiring schematics, and ensure safe operation and quality workmanship across projects.

Qualifications

• Three or more years in construction, repair, or maintenance in electrical, industrial, or mechanical field.
• Associates or vocational degree in engineering, electronics, or pressurized systems preferred.
• Or in lieu of a degree, two additional years of related experience.
• Ability to travel to customer sites up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and commission Plug Power products including hydrogen infrastructure and electrolyzers.
• Lead high-level service repair projects on hydrogen infrastructure, including tank repairs and vacuum jacket line work.
• Provide training on troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of hydrogen infrastructure.
• Support commissioning and ongoing maintenance and operation of industrial hydrogen systems, including wiring schematics, testing, and inspection.
• Document system testing results and close out project tasks.

Job description

Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist

Status: Non-exempt (hourly)

Location: Remote in the US

Position Summary

This position is responsible for commissioning, preventative maintenance troubleshooting, and repair of Plug power products including hydrogen storage infrastructure, electrolyzers, and stationary equipment at various customer sites. As such, this is a heavy travel position (up to 100%). This role requires excellent mechanical aptitude and a high degree of familiarity with industrial hydrogen systems and performance. This position also requires the ability to be on-call and to respond to urgent needs so that customer sites maintain hydrogen production around the clock. The ideal candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively among cross-functional departments with an emphasis on helping to improve electrolyzers system designs and resolve defects based upon field experience and data. This position is also critical to interface with customer stakeholders and exceed their expectations for service thereby furthering Plug Power's reputation as the leader in hydrogen fuel cell power solutions.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Travel as needed to customer sites to perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing and commissioning of Plug power products including hydrogen storage infrastructure, electrolyzers, and stationary.
• Execute and lead high level service repair projects on existing hydrogen infrastructure, including specialized service procedures including liquid tank repairs and vacuum jacket line repairs, etc.
• Provide training to first responders, customers, and other Plug service personnel on troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of Hydrogen infrastructure.
• Support the commissioning and ongoing maintenance and operation of industrial hydrogen infrastructure including but not limited to:
  • Interpreting electrical wiring schematics
  • Conducting Point to Point functionality testing
  • Pressure testing of piping systems per ASME standards
  • Testing and troubleshooting program issues with engineering assistance.
  • Inspecting of process piping systems (pressure ratings, fittings, etc.)
• Provide documented results from system testing and commissioning at the completion of each project.
• Create, track, and close out project task lists.
• Knowledge of environmental impact on equipment function and performance
• Ability to safely operate and control combustibles.
• Ability to diagnose system problems and troubleshoot solutions.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and external vendors professionally and effectively.
• Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision while achieving high quality results in work assignments.
• Must be able to adapt to changing requirements and meet project commitments/objectives without sacrificing workmanship or quality.
• Shares ideas about process improvements and other cost saving measures with project team and management.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical specifications.
• Maintain a focus around safety in all facets of work and ensure that all relevant parties are educated on the safe operation of hydrogen equipment and infrastructure.
• Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned and required within role.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Three (3) or more years of experience in construction, repair, or maintenance in an electrical, industrial, or mechanical field.
• Associates degree or vocational degree in engineering, electronics, pressurized systems or other applicable field of study preferred.
• Or in lieu of a degree, 2 additional years of construction, repair, or maintenance experience in an electrical, industrial, or mechanical field.
• Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position – up to 100%

• High level of skill with mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair
• Ability to diagnose system failures and isolate root cause
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Pay Rate: $27.50 - $40.00
