Job summary

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the outpatient oncology team at our main clinical location in Eugene, OR. The RN assesses patients, collaborates with physicians, administers treatments, and supports patients and families, documenting care in the EMR and coordinating services.

The ideal candidate has oncology experience, an RN license in good standing, and a BSN is preferred. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred).
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing.
• 3-5 years nursing experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Addresses patient calls, portal messages and emails in a timely manner.
• Assesses patient symptoms using pathways to assist in assessment and documents interventions.
• Assesses urgency of patient symptoms/side effects and addresses them appropriately.
• Aggressively manage symptoms to prevent unnecessary emergency department and hospital utilization.
• Collaborates with physicians via electronic communication, face to face, or phone when care cannot be addressed with standard orders.
• Assess surgical sites for healing, infection, or other concerns and document findings.
• Provide clear post-op education, discharge instructions, and follow-up coordination.
• Documents all conversations with patients and provides education via telephone and other duties as assigned.

Education

BSN preferred

RN license in good standing

3-5 years nursing experience preferred

Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
